It is with deep sadness that I join my fellow Barbadians, the Caribbean and the Global cricketing community in mourning the passing of National Hero, The Right Excellent Sir Garfield “Garry” Sobers. Sir Garry was not only the greatest all‑round cricketer the world has ever seen, but also one of Barbados’ finest sons, whose humility, grace and enduring commitment to his homeland inspired generations. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones and friends and to all those whose lives he touched through his extraordinary talent and quiet strength. As I reflect on his remarkable life and legacy, I give thanks for his service to Barbados and to the sport of cricket and for the pride he brought to the nation and region. May his soul rest in peace and rise in eternal glory and may his memory continue to guide and inspire for generations to come.
