In the cricket world Sir Garry was the West Indies/ Caribbean king with historical achievements and influence of every generation of the Caribbean diaspora who focused on the game they love. The cricketing influence directed that I represent my high school: Ellerslie Secondary and Cayman Islands Police Department teams and believe it or not, I tried to hit “six sixes too.” His influence and play ensured that the Caribbean was a culturally sensitive and belligerent cricketing nation while silently bringing all the countries together politically, socially and culturally through cricket while ironing out the legislation, open market economics and political policy which is coming to fruition. Sir Garry Sobers, My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Sobers family at this time of their bereavement. Peace be. granted unto him Oh Lord and let light perpetual shine upon him. A living legend and now a sleeping icon. We will remember you through out the Caribbean and history has been kin. Ode to you Honorable Sir!
