My late father who was from Barbados loved cricket and was of course a big fan of the Barbados team but Gary Sobers in particular,despite living for decades in Liverpool England
As a child I grew up with talk about cricket, Gary Sobers ( as he called him) and of course having to watch i on the television.
I had the honour of seeing the statue of Garfield Sobers when I was on holiday in Barbados and went to the Kensington Oval to watch a match.
My late father would have been thrilled to know that I had made that ‘pilgrimage.
