Many will give reference to Sir Garry’s exploits on the cricket field, and his greatness in all facets of the game, be it batting, bowling or fielding. No doubt he touched the lives of many personally – but one of the things that stand out for me as a boy growing up, as one of his adoring fans – was his walk to the wicket. For Garry had that ‘swag’, walking calmly with that signature stroll, head slightly ahead of shoulders, bat like a walking stick and the shirt collar up – chest slightly exposed. Many ‘copied’ the Garry Sobers walk to the pitch – which is one of those things that reflected how much everything about him was revered by the generation of the day. THANK YOU SIR GARRY – for the INSPIRING a NATION. Condolences to YOUR Family – may you REST IN PEACE and RISE in ETERNAl GLORY.
